Mr. Latham is a lecturer in the air traffic management program, since 2007. Prior to joining Arizona State University, Mr. Latham worked as an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for 26 years, working at tower facilities in El Cajon, CA and Phoenix, AZ. Mr. Latham retired from the FAA in 2007 after working at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport for 20 years.
Mr. Latham earned his bachelor's in physical geography, with a minor in geology, in 1976 and then completed his master's degree in physical geography in 1980. Mr. Latham was hired by the FAA in 1982 and during his career working for the FAA, he taught numerous classes at community colleges in San Diego, CA and Mesa, AZ. He has taught classes in geology, physical geography, cartography and meteorology.
Mr. Latham was a member of the ASU team that originally developed the air traffic management program here at ASU in 2007. The ASU program was accepted by the FAA as a member of their Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) program in 2007 and has been successful in preparing students for a career in air traffic control.
