Biography

Dr. Keith A. Frey is a physician executive and academic leader with strong clinical, informatics, business and leadership skills. Dr. Frey, a former Phoenix Top Doctor and 2017 AZ Business Leader in Healthcare, has more than 35 years’ experience as a primary care physician, educator and researcher. Additionally, he has extensive experience in successful program development, leadership of healthcare teams, and technology project management. Dr. Frey’s career includes prominent leadership roles at Duke University, Providence Health, the University of Washington and Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Frey is currently the Chief Physician Executive for Dignity Health in Arizona and has held this position since 2013. His responsibilities include driving clinical excellence, superior patient experiences, academic integration and physician leadership development. He served as the President, Dignity Health Medical Group, a 200+ clinician, academic multispecialty medical group in Phoenix, from 2014 to 2018. He serves in board leadership roles for the Arizona Care Network and Mercy Care, and is a Clinical Professor, College of Health Solutions, Arizona State University.

Dr. Frey holds BS in Biology from the Virginia Military Institute, an MD degree from the Medical College of Virginia, and an MBA from Duke University. He is board certified in both Family Medicine and Clinical Informatics, and is an Independent Certified Coach, Teacher, Trainer and Speaker with The John Maxwell Team. On a personal note, he enjoys international travel, golf, spending time with family and participating in church activities.

                                  Current Status: Colonel Sykora is currently an Assistant Professor and

                                Thompson, Robert, MD (Resident)                                                                        1982 – 1984

                                  Description: Served as Dr. Thompson’s academic advisor in the final two

  years of his residency training.  I have advised him periodically over his

  20+ year career.

                                  Current Status: Dr. Thompson was formerly as Associate Residency

  Director at The Morton  Plant Mease Family Practice Program in Clearwater,

  Fl.  He is now in Private practice in Middletown, MD.

                                Stange, Kurt, MD (Resident)                                                                                  1985 – 1986

                                  Description: Served as a clinical faculty and advisor for Dr. Strange

  during his final year of residency training at the Duke University Family

  Medicine Program.

                                  Current Status: Dr. Stange is currently Professor of Family Medicine, Case

  Western University School of Medicine, Cleveland, OH and Editor, Annals

  of Family Medicine.

                                Eiff, Patricia, MD (Resident)                                                                                  1985 – 1987

                                  Description:  Served as a clinical faculty and advisor for Dr. Eiff during her

  Final year of residency training at the Duke University Family Medicine

  Program and Faculty development fellowship at Duke.

                                  Current Status: Dr. Eiff is currently Professor of Family Medicine and

  Director of Faculty Development, Department of Family Medicine,

  Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, OR.

                                Kaprielian, Victoria, MD (Resident)                                                                       1985 - 1988

                                  Description:  Served as a clinical faculty and advisor for Dr. Kaprielian

  during her Residency training at the Duke University Family Medicine

  Program.

                                Ferrer, Robert, MD, MPH (Resident)                                                                     1986 - 1989

                                  Description: Served as a clinical faculty and advisor for Dr. Ferrer during his

                                  Current Status: Dr. Ferrer is currently Associate Professor, Deputy

 Chair and  Director of Research, Department of Family and Community Medicine,

                                Golusinski, Lawrence, MD (Resident)                                                                    1986 – 1989

                                  Description: Served as a clinical faculty and program director for Dr.

                                  Golusinski during his residency training at the Duke University Family

  Medicine Program.

                                  Current Status: Dr. Golusinski subsequently served on the faculty, then as

                                  Program director, in the Department of Family Medicine, Emory University

                                  School of Medicine.  He is currently in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia.

                                Pollack, Ronald, MD (Resident)                                                                              1987 - 1990

                                  Description: Served as a medical student mentor, then clinical faculty and

                                   advisor for Dr. Pollack during his residency training at the Duke University

                                   Family Medicine Program.

                                   Current Status: Dr. Pollack currently serves as the Associate Director of

                                   Obstetrics and Procedures, Cabarrus Family Residency Program, NC.

Junker, Jesse, MD (Resident)                                                                                 1988 – 1989

                                  Description: Served as a fellowship faculty and advisor for Dr. Junker

  During her fellowship training in the Department of Community and

  Family Medicine,  Duke University School of Medicine.

                                  Current Status: Dr. Junker is currently Associate Professor, Department of

                                  Family Medicine, University of North Carolina School of Medicine and

  Program Director, New Hanover Regional Medical Center Residency in

  Family Medicine.

                                Baker, Steven, MD (Resident)                                                                                                1991 – 1993

                                  Description: Served as a clinical faculty and program director for Dr. Baker

                                  During his residency training at the Providence St. Peter Hospital Family

                                  Medicine Program.  I have maintained an on-going mentor relationship with

                                  Dr. Baker for both career and ministry advice.

                                  Current Status: Dr. Baker is currently a clinical faculty in the Southwest

                                  Washington Family Medicine Program, Vancouver, WA.

                                Sawyer, Devin, MD (Resident)                                                                               1995 – 1999

                                  Description: Served as a clinical faculty and program director for Dr. Sawyer

                                  During his residency training at the Providence St. Peter Hospital Family

  Medicine Program.

                                  Current Status:  Dr. Sawyer is currently Program Director in the Providence St.

                                  Peter Hospital Family Medicine Program.

                                Boyden, Jennifer, MD (Resident)                                                                           1999 – 2000

                                  Description: Served as a clinical faculty, advisor, and department chair for

                                  Dr. Boyden during her residency training at the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale

  Family Practice Program.

                                  Current Status:  I successfully recruited Dr. Boyden as a faculty consultant in

                                  the Department of Family Medicine, Mayo Clinic Arizona. She is now in

                                  private practice.

                                Darby-Stewart, Andrea, MD (Resident)                                                                 1999 – 2000

                                  Description: Served as a clinical faculty, advisor, and department chair for

                                  Dr. Darby-Stewart during her residency training at the Mayo Clinic

  Scottsdale Family Practice Residency Program.

                                  Current Status: I successfully recruited Dr. Darby-Stewart as a faculty

                                  consultant in the Department of Family Medicine, May Clinic Arizona, where

                                  she served as Assistant Program Director and Program Director.  She is now

  Program Director at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center, Phoenix, Arizona.

                                Whiteside, John, MD (Resident)                                                                            1999 – 2000

                                  Description: Served as a clinical faculty, advisor, and department chair for

                                  Dr. Whiteside during his residency training at the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale

  Family Practice Residency Program.

                                  Current Status: I successfully recruited Dr. Whiteside as a faculty consultant in
