Zdzislaw Jackiewicz studies theory and implementation of numerical methods for ordinary and delay differential equations, and Volterra integral equations. Such equations model various phenomena in science and engineering. Differential and integral equations constitute the basic language of how things change with time and/or with space - Newton's second law of motion being the most well known example.
Professor Jackiewicz is the author of many papers on numerical analysis and scientific computing and the research monograph on general linear method for ordinary differential equations. His recent research interests are also related to the construction of implicit-explicit methods with desirable accuracy and stability properties for large differential systems resulting from semidiscretization of partial differential equations of mathematical physics.
