Long Bio
Originally from Southern California (San Diego and Orange County), Dr. Briggs joined the ASU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (now the School of Molecular Sciences) in 2004, teaching large-enrollment general chemistry lectures and physical chemistry lab courses. Shortly thereafter, he was charged with management of the General Chemistry and Teaching Assistant/Instructor programs. In this capacity, Dr. Briggs oversaw the creation of new active learning formats, innovative classroom designs, and fundamental changes to instructional staffing that resulted in increased student success and retention. He has been nominated for multiple teaching awards and continues to enjoy teaching general chemistry.
