Judith Smith holds a master's degree in American Literature from California State University, Long Beach, and a bachelor of arts degree in English from California State University, Fresno. She has worked as a feature writer, columnist and editor for four newspapers and one magazine, including Orange Coast Daily Pilot in Costa Mesa, Calif.; Arizona Daily Star, Tucson; Scottsdale Progress; and Scottsdale Scene Magazine.
She has written three book chapters:
"Westways" and "Arizona: The New State Magazine and Pathfinder," chapters in Regional Magazines of the United States, December 1990, Greenwood Press, Westport, Conn.; and "Eva Hesse," Encyclopedia of Twentieth-Century North American Women Artists, Jules Heller, editor.
Judith also is the author of a publicity handbook for visual artists and musicians, entitled
"How to Get Your News in the Newspaper -- Instead of the Wastebasket," and numerous magazine articles.
She is a member of Phi Delta Gamma, an honor society for graduate students.
