Jiefeng Sun is an assistant professor of aerospace and mechanical engineering in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy at Arizona State University. His research focused on the design and modeling of artificial-muscle-driven robots that match the adaptivity of natural organisms. He was a postdoc at Yale University with Prof. Rebecca Kramer-Bottiglio and he obtained his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University.
He has published papers in leading robotics journals (e.g., IEEE Transactions on Robotics, Soft Robotics, etc.) as well as multidisciplinary scientific journals (e.g., Naturre Communications, Science Advances, and Materials Horizons). His work has been selected as the finalist for the best student paper award at the 2018 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS). He is the Reviewer of the Year 2021 for Smart Materials and Structures Journal and he is also selected as a 2022 DARPA Riser.
