Biography

Daniel Tylavsky is an associate professor in the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He is a member of the Power Engineering Society and the Industry Applications Society, where he held a national office. He is a member of the honorary societies Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi, and Eta Kappa Nu and is an RCA and NASA-ASEE fellow. He has been nominated for numerous teaching awards and is the recipient of three teaching awards from the Power Engineering Society of the IEEE for Outstanding Student Research Supervision. He has received the College of Extended Education Outstanding Faculty Award at Arizona State University.

His research interests include electric power systems, applying social optimization to power system markets, numerical methods applied to large-scale system problems, parallel numerical algorithms, new educational methods and technologies, and transformer thermal modeling.
