Eleni Panagiotou’s research focuses on knot theory, molecular simulations and biopolymers. She works at the interface of topology, biology and materials science and is interested in the effects of entanglement in physical systems. Her focus is in both mathematical theory and in the application of rigorous mathematical tools through computations and simulations to discover the origins of mechanical properties of materials and function of biopolymers. She joins the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences as an assistant professor.

Dr. Panagiotou's work is at the interface of Topology, Biology and Materials Science. She is interested in the effects of entanglement in physical systems. Her focus is in both creating novel mathematical theory and computational methods in mathematics and in the application of rigorous mathematical tools through computations and simulations to discover the origins of viscoelastic properties of materials and function of biopolymers.
