Kena is the Manager of Instructional Design on the Online Curriculum and Digital Innovation team in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's office.
The mini but mighty Online Curriculum and Digital Innovation team assists academic units as they move through the process of bringing new programs into the ASU Online space.
As the Manager of Instructional Design, Kena provides faculty training on online teaching best practices, Canvas usage, and course development. She also consults faculty on online curriculum and pedagogy before and during the course approval process, working to optimize course quality and instructional alignment while scaling for large enrollments and a diverse global student population.
As a veteran higher-ed Instructional Designer, since 2009, Kena has designed thousands of courses and over 100 workshops at three institutions, including EdPlus ASU Online. She has also facilitated numerous faculty trainings and workshops, such as Master Class for Teaching Online.
She is eager to share her ID evangelism with ASU Instructional Designers and faculty: excellent course curriculum is not only clear, well-written, and good-looking; it is also transformative, engaging, and directly applicable to learners’ lives!
She lives in Tempe with her husband, stepdaughter, and doggo. She spends her off hours renovating her midcentury modern home and practicing (and teaching) vinyasa yoga.
She has a BA in English Literature, an MAEd in Curriculum and Instruction, and is a certified yoga teacher.
I have a BA in English Literature and an MA in Education (Curriculum and Instruction).
