Julia Rosen is the managing director of Global Launch at Arizona State University. Global Launch is a platform that provides academic preparation services, including training in multilingual communication and professional skills development. It builds on the success of ASU’s program in Teaching English as a Second Language. Global Launch has four major divisions - language training, academic preparation services, capacity building programs, and digital products and services – supported by more than 100 full-time employees. International students who do well in Global Launch’s most advanced class at the Intensive English Program do not have to take a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language®) to be admitted to ASU. To further increase international students’ access to ASU, Global Launch is working to extend this capability to a digital modality.
Rosen has worked at ASU for more than 15 years. Her prior positions include directing international programs at EdPlus at ASU and leading the development of ASU SkySong, ASU’s public-private partnership for global innovation and incubation of high technology startups. Rosen has also worked in venture capital and technology-based economic development. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and holds a master’s degree in international management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, as well as a master’s degree in business administration from the W. P. Carey School of Business at ASU.
