Kate Eaton is the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and a Clinical Professor of Marketing at the W. P. Carey School of Business, where she has been a faculty member since 2014. As Associate Dean, Kate works with faculty, staff, and students to shape graduate curriculum and guide innovations in graduate teaching, helping to navigate the changing landscape of higher education and to consistently drive quality improvements and excellence.
Within her department, Kate served as the Teaching Lead from 2018 to 2023. Kate has developed several online classes and worked to innovate the on-ground classroom experience as well, developing a flipped classroom, new assessment techniques, and conceptual framework teaching strategies to maximize student learning. Kate has been recognized for her innovation and teaching excellence, being named the 2017 and 2021 recipient for the Huizingh Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher Award, the 2020 recipient for the 'Rethinking Business Education' Award for Excellence in Online Teaching, and the 2022 recipient for the 'Business Is Personal' Inclusive Teaching Award, as well as honored on the 2023 Poets & Quants list of '40 Best MBA Professors Under 40'.
Kate holds a PhD in Business Administration (Marketing), as well as undergraduate degrees in Finance and Management, with an International Business Certificate, from the W. P. Carey School of Business. Kate's research interests include product and service design and transformative services research. Before returning to teaching, Kate served as Principal Strategist for Obesity Solutions under a joint appointment with Arizona State University and Mayo Clinic. In this role she studied the efficacy of health messaging, education, interventions, and patient experience design.
In her free time, Kate is an avid rockhounder, DIYer, storyteller, and Lego enthusiast.
