Dr. Fiorella L. Carlos Chavez is an Assistant Professor in Community Health at the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Human Development from Florida State University in 2018 and in 2021, she completed a competitive postdoctoral fellowship in Human Development and Family Science at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Chavez has served as a principal and co-investigator on privately and state funded research grants, and is a consulting editor for Latinx Psychology, Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, Journal of Research on Adolescence, and Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. She is a pioneer in the study of migrant farmworker youth’s health and development using qualitative and mixed-methodologies. Her work aims to understand the mental and physical health implications of work and family-related stressors among farmworker adolescents in U.S. agriculture.
