Steven Mana'oakamai Johnson is Postdoctoral Research Scholar with the Donovan Lab in the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning and the Center for Global Discovery and Conservation Science. Johnson is an interdisciplinary marine scientist focused on using social, environmental, and climate data to develop equitable and cooperative solutions for coastal communities. Johnson’s research is inspired by his upbringing in Micronesia and his cultural responsibility (kuleana) as a kanaka maoli (Native Hawaiian) to care for the planet for the generations yet to come.
