History and Philosophy of Science
The College of Lib Arts & Sci

With a background in high energy physics, I'm especially interested in the intersection of philosophy and physics. Research Interests:

  • Wilsonian renormalization and the extension of renormalization techniques into fields outside of physics (such as ecology and genetics).
  • Mathematical modeling (specifically, physics avoidance strategies like coarse graining, model reduction, etc.)
  • The history and philosophy of physics (mostly high energy physics and relativity)
  • Inconsistency in science
  • Scientific realism
  • The role of mathematics in science, and the relation between mathematization/maturity/empirical adequacy/other virutes.
