Luis Bonilla is a professor of practice at the Cronkite School for the Digital Audiences Lab. He helps students learn how to research and define audience data, as well as how to grow and engage these audiences for real-world clients.
Previously, Bonilla was the digital services architect for ticket sales for the Phoenix Suns, helping with strategy and execution of search engine optimization (SEO), paid search, e-commerce, website analytics, paid social media, mobile app user experience and other digital channels. His guidance helped internal departments to increase single game ticket sales via organic and paid search, strengthen team shop ecommerce sales and improve website data capture form submissions.
Bonilla has worked in digital marketing for a wide range of organizations, including start-ups, digital agencies, and large-scale corporations with global clients.
Throughout his career, Bonilla has had an affinity for entrepreneurship and has launched various online projects. In 2008, he started a ghostwriting service that he grew to a team of six remote contract writers and serviced clients in over 15 countries before he sold the business in 2012. Bonilla’s most recent endeavor, ZingLead, began in 2015 with the ambition to provide small businesses with a results-driven approach to digital marketing.
Bonilla earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Brigham Young University.
