Biography: 

Alexandra Gilbert is a teaching associate and doctoral student in Applied Linguistics. Her research interests include the mediation of power through identity, theorizing and analyzing ideology in interaction, and representations of trans and gender-non-conforming identities. Gilbert’s research spans the fields of Critical Discourse Analysis, Semantics, Linguistic Anthropology, and Trans and Cultural Studies. She is from Knoxville, Tennessee, and received her B.A. in Linguistics from the University of Tennessee in 2016.
