Zhiang Chen is an Exploration Systems Design Ph.D. candidate at the School of Earth and Space Exploration, Arizona State University. Under the supervision of Dr. Jnaneshwar Das and Dr. Ramon Arrowsmith, he researches robotic and artificial-intelligence systems for earth science studies. He has developed robotic exploration systems to estimate tornado damages for search and rescue, measure rock distributions for tectonic motion estimation, search fragile geologic features for earthquake studies, and map coral reefs for marine conservation.
Zhiang is also a member of the Center for Global Discovery and Conservation Science (GDCS), working on autonomous systems for environmental conservation.
