Biography: 

Lauren Reed is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at Arizona State University. She completed her PhD in Social Work and Developmental Psychology and her MSW in Interpersonal Practice with Children and Youth at the University of Michigan. Dr. Reed completed her postdoctoral training at the University of California, Santa Barbara in the Center for School-Based Youth Development. Dr. Reed's research focuses on teen dating and sexal abuse prevention using community-based and youth participatory methods. In particular, she has examined the role of social media and mobile phones in "digital dating abuse," and how media can be a context and tool for abuse. She has worked with adolescent and adult survivors of dating and domestic violence and has facilitated community-based, youth-led programs to prevent relationship violence, promote gender equity, and promote positive youth development. She is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and the power of youth-led social change.
