Biography: 

Lucy started teaching in 2011 when she was still an undergraduate at Cal State Fullerton in the Comm Studies department. She graduated with her bachelor's degree from CSUF in 2012, majoring in Comm Studies and minoring in Japanese language. She continued her passion for teaching and academics at CSUF and pursued a master's degree. She graduated in 2014 with a master's degree, emphasizing in Interpersonal Communication. After graduating, she decided she needed a change of pace so she moved to Japan and lived there for two years. She lived in Ibaraki prefecture and worked as an Assistant Lanugage Teacher (ALT) via the JET Programme. This experience abroad inspired her to broaden her horizons and pursue a PhD back in the United States. She moved back to the U.S. in 2016 and began her PhD pursuit in Communication Studies at ASU. Lucy has taught a wide range of classes; from the basics of communication and ESL to specified areas of relational/interpersonal communication and research methodologies. She is a Critical Interpersonal scholar, specifying in two areas – relational communication and health communication. Her research is on identity formation and management with the polyamorous identity under the critical umbrella of compulsory monogamy and heterosexuality, using queer and feminist theory as frameworks.
