Denise comes to us with more than 25 years of experience in higher education. She started her career at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois where she conceived, developed, and managed the Diversity Student Mentor Program. From there Denise moved to Virginia Commonwealth University where she joined the faculty in the department of Theater. In 2006, Denise headed west to Thurgood Marshall College at the University of California, San Diego, holding positions of increasing responsibility. Denise’s career as a Sun Devil began in 2016 in The Polytechnic School Advising Services Office as an Academic Success Specialist. She later held the position of Academic Success Coordinator, Sr. with the School of Computing, Informatics, & Decision Systems Engineering. Returning to The Polytechnic School, Denise now leads The First-Year Academic Success Team – a team dedicated to bringing innovative programming and academic support to our first-year undergraduate students. In her spare time, Denise enjoys cycling, hiking, reading and writing poetry. She's also a dedicated fan of the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury - go Merc!
