Biography

Administrative Assistant for the School of International Letters and Cultures, Cindy enjoys greeting and assisting students; working with SILC's very active cadre of more than 120 faculty, lecturers, and instructors; and assisting the Department Director with her calendar and other special projects.  Cindy enjoys public service, and claims to be a 'recovering federal bureaucrat' after nearly 20 years working in Washington, DC for the National Endowment for the Arts, the Institute of Museum Services, NASA, and the Goddard Space Flight Center.  She relished her professional career as a program and policy analyst, agency spokeperson, executive officer for NASA's Chief Scientist, television director, project manager, and senior communications strategist.  Beyond the Beltway, she's explored a variety of paid and volunteer opportunities serving numerous non-profits with highly successful fundraising and program development:  the Smithsonian Resident Associates program, Arlington domestic violence shelter, the NC county Humane Society, Children's Playhouse of Boone, numerous NC county planning and land use boards, and local Arizona school board election initiatives.  Cindy made her way to the Grand Canyon State in 2012 at the end of a 'family gap year,' travelling in an RV across 20 states during a 13-month, 20,000 mile odyssey with her husband and son.  She makes her home in Gilbert, AZ.
