Patricia (Patty) Ann Tusay is an instructor of English and English as a Second Language (ESL) at the School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies at Arizona State University’s New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences.
Her undergraduate degrees are in English literature and psychology from the City University of New York (CUNY) Baruch College in 1998. She graduated from Arizona State University with dual master's degrees in curriculum and instruction (reading education and ESL) in 2001 and completed an additional master's in higher education in 2012.
She taught ESL and academic kkills at CUNY and supervised The Tutoring Center. She also supervised the ESL Immersion program for more than five years. She taught K-12 special education in New York City and Phoenix, Arizona and holds certifications: Reading Education, ESL, Middle School and Gifted.
After graduating from ASU, she taught academic skills courses and university introductory course sections for various colleges at ASU including the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College since 2001. She has taught English composition courses, business English and ESL courses at ASU West campus for many years.
She has worked as a disability counselor at the Disability Resource Center in Upstate New York at Dutchess Community College and at ASU West. She works as a learning specialist with students on the autism spectrum at the post-secondary level.
Her research includes teaching English through language, culture and performance and achieving academic success with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
She rescues, fosters and adopts senior miniature schnauzers and does hospice. She is owned by one Mickey Mouse Tusay, her miniature schnauzer she rescued as a puppy.
