Akheil Singlais an assistant professor at the School of Public Affairs in the College of Public Service and Community Solutions. His research focuses on public financial management at the state and local level, with a specific focus on municipal debt markets as well as local government financial health. Some of his recent work has explored municipal bankruptcy in cities like Detroit, Stockton, Vallejo and San Bernardino. In addition, he has studied the use of interest rate swaps and other debt-related derivatives by state and local governments.
Singla’s research has been published in venues such as Public Budgeting & Finance and Public Finance and Management. Before joining the School of Public Affairs, he completed his doctorate in Public Policy and Management at The John Glenn College of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University.
