Nate Newman serves as the Lawrence Professor of Solid State Sciences and is a faculty member in the Materials Program at Arizona State University.  Nathan Newman earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University in 1983 and 1987, respectively. He received the B.S. degree in biomedical/electrical engineering from the University of Southern California in 1981. He has been employed as a member of the technical staff at the University of California at Berkeley, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, Stanford University, and Conductus, Inc. and as an Associate Professor at Northwestern University. His research interests include the growth, characterization and modeling of novel solid-state materials for microwave, photonic, and high-speed applications.He has been author or co-author of over 200 technical papers, has 12 patents, has received the IEEE Van Duzer award and is a Fellow of the IEEE and the American Physical Society. He also serves as Associate Editor for Materials in the IEEE Transactions of Applied Superconductivity and has served as the Chair of the U.S. Committee on Superconductor Electronics and director of ASU’s LeRoy Eyring Center for Solid State Sciences.
