Michael was born in Metro-Detroit and lived there until going off to college in 1981. After graduating from the University of Tampa in 1986, he spent the next few years living in and around Tampa, learning the human resources/compensation profession in the commercial banking industry. He relocated back to his hometown in Michigan in late 1988 and spent the next 26 years honing his human resources/compensation skills in a variety of industries (commercial banking, business services, healthcare, and health insurance). In late 2014, he (and two Golden Retrievers) relocated to the Phoenix area and now enjoys year-round activities including hiking and golf.
