Biography

Latavia Young is student in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts in the School of Film, Dance and Theatre. She is majoring in Film and Media Production and is in the Directing Concentration. She is pursuing a career as a writer, director, and producer.

Latavia is employed as a Herberger Creative Fellow for the School of Film, Dance and Theatre which acts as a peer mentor, assisting students in navigating university, encouraging students to create, and creating opportunities for collaboration. Latavia works as a Media Production Associate for the Digitial Creative Studio portion of Student Creative Services. Latavia is also the 2017-18 President of the ASU Film Association, serving as Creative Director the previous year. 

The kinds of projects that Latavia is passionate about are social justice and awareness. Most of her films center around prevalent issues involving race, class, and sex.
