Biography

Piyum Fernando, is a PhD student at the School of Arts, Media, and Engineering at Arizona State University. His work spans human computer interaction and user centric design research and he is passionate about exploring human aspects of technology in building functional products and interactive systems. Having obtained his undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka, he worked as a Software Engineer at WSO2. Later he joined Augmented Human Lab at Singapore University of Technology and Design where he worked as research engineer in Human Computer Interaction. At ASU, he currently works on scaffolding amateur participation in biology (DIYbiology) through HCI and Design. Apart from technology, he loves music and photography. He is a travel- junkie too and enjoy visiting unseen places and people. I spend his quiet hours reading or playing guitar.
