Patrick McDermott is the Chief Global Advancement Officer of the Arizona State University Foundation. Patrick leads the Global and Regional Advancement team at the ASU Foundation, building out the Foundation’s presence across the US and around the world. Patrick oversees the advancement teams at Thunderbird School of Global Management and at the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory.
Prior to his current role, Patrick served as a member of the team that catalyzed the turnaround and transformation of Thunderbird by reengaging the school’s global community of over 50,000 alumni and raising more than $100M since 2016, including working with the team to design and fund the School’s new global headquarters in downtown Phoenix. With over 25 years’ experience in institutional advancement, politics and education, Patrick’s previous roles include CEO of the Dublin City University Educational Trust, Chair of the Fulbright Commission of Ireland and White House Liaison for the United States Department of Education.
