Jon Wetzel

Dr. Jon Wetzel leads teams of engineers and researchers which create and test educational software for science and math education.  He works with Professor Kurt VanLehn as project lead for the Dragoon and TopoMath projects, and as project co-lead for the Formative Assessment Computing Technologies (FACT) project.

Jon Wetzel first came to ASU as postdoctoral scholar in 2014, and was promoted to Asst. Research Scientist at the beginning of 2016.


Jon completed his PhD in Computer Science (with cognitive science specialization) at Northwestern University in the summer of 2014.  His PhD thesis was on CogSketch Design Coach, an AI coach for a first year undergraduate engineering course.

Jon completed his B.S and M.Eng. in Computer Science and Engineering at MIT in 2006 and 2007, respectively.
