Rhonda Olson is the Manager of Marketing and Communication for the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. She is highly skilled in everything from media relations and social media, to website writing, science communication, events and outreach, donor and alumni relations, and student recruitment. She also serves as Special Advisor to the Director on Charter Initiatives, Chair of the school's Charter Initiatives Committee, and advisor for ASU's student chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics.
She has an extensive communication skill set and more than 25 years of experience in multiple industries including higher education, non-profit, television news broadcasting, and entertainment as the owner of a high-end computer animation and visual effects company.
For her creative work Olson has received numerous awards throughout her career including Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards, Telly Awards, PBS Promotion and Marketing Award, and Tucson Addy Awards. She also received ASU The College Marketing Awards in 2016, 2017, and 2018 for Best Event, Best Visual Design, and Best Website. In 2020 she was nominated for the Committee on Campus Inclusion Catalyst Award.
Olson is an alumna of ASU. When not working, you can find her outdoors on the tennis court, or playing with her energetic Australian Shepherd, Thunder.
