Krista Puruhito

Biography: 

Krista Puruhito completed her master's degree in educational psychology at Arizona State University in 2009 and her doctorate in family and human development in 2017, also at ASU. She is a lecturer for the Sanford School. Her background and research interests are in learning and motivation. Specifically, she is interested in how students perceive content as being useful for both specific and non-specific goals for their future, and how that value translates in to studying habits and self-regulatory skills. She is also interested in the role parents play in children's perceived value of specific content areas, like math and science across the span of childhood.


Dr. Puruhito's current developing areas of research are Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in families that have experienced a stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as well as inclusion of people with disabilities across environments.

Research Interests: 

Krista's current research interests are parent involvement in education, and motivation across the lifespan.

Krista curenty serves as a member of the Parent Advisory Council for the Banner University Medical Center- Phoenix Campus (BUMC-P) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
