Manoochehr Shirzaei

Biography

Manoochehr Shirzaei leads the Radar Remote Sensing and Tectonic geodesy Lab (RaTLab), which conducts interdisciplinary research covering a broad spectrum of geophysical, hydrological and industrial processes, such as seismic and aseismic faulting, volcanism, landslide, land subsidence, induced seismicity, coastal erosion, hydrocarbon sequestration, and planetary atmosphere.

RaTLab works to develop innovative tools and methods based on space-, air-, ground-based observations (InSAR, GPS, seismicity …) to monitor the Earth and planetary surfaces and associated processes. These developments require substantial advances in the field of signal processing, data mining, inverse theory, and numerical/analytical modeling as well as understanding the underlying physical process and associated hazards. Professor Shirzaei came to ASU in 2013. Before ASU, he worked as a research scholar at UC Berkeley and German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), Potsdam, Germany.
