Biography

Eva Humbeck is currently an instructor in the German section at the School of International Letters and Cultures. She has been teaching German language courses off and on since 1984. She received her first degree in English literature and geography from the University of Bonn, Germany. In 1994, she completed her doctorate in Cultural Geography and taught as an assistant professor at Millersville University in Pennsylvania. She later joined the Geography Department at Arizona State University where she taught courses on regional geography and Europe.

Since 2011, she has combined her love of teaching European, and especially German, culture with her interest in teaching German language at SILC. She currently teaches undergraduate introductory courses, online and on campus, and has twice co-lead the German Study Abroad Summer Program to Regensburg, Germany.

Humbeck very much enjoys meeting with students, mentoring them, and helping them reach their full potential when studying German. Her academic interests reach from 19th century poetry to modern crime novels to cultural changes in contemporary German society.
