Biography

Gustavo Ventura joined the W. P. Carey School of Business as an associate professor of economics in 2011. He is currently a professor and the chair of the Department of Economics. 

Professor Ventura's research interests focus macroeconomics, taxation, economic development and the determinants of inequality. His work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Monetary Economics, The Review of Economic Studies, Review of Economic Dynamics, and International Economic Review. 

Before joining W. P. Carey, Professor Ventura was an associate professor in the department of economics at the University of Iowa. 

He currently serves as associate editor for the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control and Economic Inquiry. Professor Ventura has been recognized for his achievements in academia, including the 2010 Professional Excellence in the Training of Economists Award and the 2008 Terker Family Prize in Investment Research Award.
