Biography

Panagiotis (Panos) Artemiadis has been with Arizona State University since 2011, where he is currently an Associate Professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, and the founder and director of the Human-Oriented Robotics and Control Laboratory. Prior to joining ASU, Dr. Artemiadis was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Mechanical Engineering Department, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Earlier appointments include Researcher positions in Brown University, Providence RI and the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago, IL.

Dr. Artemiadis is a Senior Member of IEEE and he serves as Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editor in many scientific journals and editorial boards. He received the 2014 DARPA Young Faculty Award and the 2014 AFOSR Young Investigator Award, the 2017 ASU Fulton Exemplar Faculty Award, the top 5% Teaching Award in Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, and he is the Fulton Faculty Development Chair since 2015.

Dr. Artemiadis' primary research interests have been in robotics and autonomous systems that interact with humans. The goals of his research have been to improve the quality of life by developing and controlling robotic devices that physically and cognitively interact and collaborate with humans. This interaction can be with devices that assist and augment human capabilities, as well as provide motor rehabilitation therapy to impaired individuals. In order to accomplish this, Dr. Artemiadis' research has been focusing on answering important questions regarding the symbiosis of humans and robots in environments that involve physical and cognitive interaction.

Research Interests

Dr. Artemiadis specializes in the area of robotics and autonomous systems and control.
