Biography: 

DEBORAH SUSSMAN earned an MA in English/Creative Writing from Hollins University and an MFA in Fiction from the University of Virginia, where she was a Henry Hoyns Fellow. Her undergraduate degree (Comparative Literature) is from Smith College. She has taught writing at the University of Virginia, Phoenix College and Arizona State University, and co-teaches the workshop Mothers Who Write through Changing Hands Bookstore. Formerly an editor at Scholastic and at the Jewish News of Greater Phoenix, Sussman is the senior communications and media specialist for ASU's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Her writing has been published in the Washington Post and Art in America, and she is a contributor to the Los Angeles Review of Books' blog.
