Biography: 

Laura Jimenez Arista, Ph.D. is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Counseling and Counseling Psychology. She teaches and mentors students primarily in the Counseling and Applied Psychological Science B.S. program. She obtained a Ph.D. degree in Counseling Psychology in 2018 and a Master of Counseling degree in 2011 from Arizona State University, and completed an APA accredited internship at Arizona State University-Counseling Services in 2018. Additional clinical placements include community counseling and school counseling, where she provided psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families in both English and Spanish. She is also a licensed psychologist (2019) and a nationally certified counselor (NCC; 2012). Her research interests include psychotherapy process and outcome, Hispanic populations and undocumented individuals, as well as child sexual abuse prevention, the latter focusing on pre-offense treatment for potential perpetrators. She has published research on those topics and is a member of the Mexican Register of Researchers (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores –SNI).
