Steven Harper joined the ASU Enterprise Marketing Hub as director of marketing communications in 2014 after serving similar roles in the university public affairs office and Downtown Phoenix campus. In 2016, he was appointed director of Sun Devil Rewards, and in September of that year successfully launched the award-winning mobile app loyalty program. In this role with the Hub, Harper is responsible for the operations of the program, including all member acquisition, engagement and retention strategies, rewards catalog acquisition and management, and continuous improvement and future enhancements.
Joining the university in 2007, Harper brings more than 25 years of experience directing and creating integrated communications and philanthropic activities for large corporations and nonprofit organizations. His background in strategic communications has been recognized by the American Marketing Association, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Arizona Interactive Marketing Association and the Phoenix Ad Club. Among his many awards are "Best in Class" honors for his direction and the success of the Sun Devil Rewards app, ADDY awards for his leadership on a variety of projects during his time at Reister, the Arizona Science Center and most recently at ASU, and CASE Circle of Excellence aknowledgement for his work on the 2015 ASU holiday greeting video project.
A graduate of the University of Arizona, Harper also studied journalism and communications at Santa Clara University in the San Francisco Bay Area. He and his wife Sarah live in Phoenix with their daughter and son. Harper enjoys time with his family, cheering his son's baseball and Boy Scout achievements, and staying up to date on his daughter's many activities, including drawing, photography and baking.
