Biography

Ronald L. Rutowski received a Bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and then a PhD in neurobiology and behavior from Cornell University.  He then joined the faculty at Arizona State University where he has worked ever since.

Rutowski’s research focuses on the coloration and mating behavior of animals, especially butterflies. He teaches courses in animal behavior and invertebrate biology. He is particularly active in the administration of undergraduate research participation, both in his own lab and at ASU.

Education

PhD, 1976, Cornell University

Research Interests
The production, function, and perception of bright coloration in animals and plants.
